Supervisor Training and Mentorship Program

We are excited to be in partnership with BeHERE to offer CAS 783: Supervision in Community Settings. This course, offered through the University of Nevada, Reno and the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT), is a graduate-level semester-long course that meets the didactic requirement to become an Approved Supervisor for the Nevada Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors. Supervisor candidates enrolled in CAS 782 will also have the opportunity for a supervision practicum, overseeing the work of our graduate and early career trainees at our community partner sites, as well as ongoing supervision of supervision meetings, which meets the practical requirements for becoming an Approved Supervisor. Resilient Nevada Initiative

The Resilient Nevada Initiative, operated by the UNR Community Behavioral Health Collaborative in partnership with the Orvis School of Nursing, is a VOCA-funded program through the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services that provides accessible, evidence-based, trauma-informed integrated health services to victims and survivors of violent crimes across rural and underserved Nevada communities. The initiative delivers comprehensive mental health and nursing services to survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes in Humboldt, Elko, and Washoe counties, while simultaneously building community partnerships, developing public awareness resources, and training healthcare professionals in trauma-informed care. Through a combination of direct clinical services provided by supervised graduate students and licensed professionals, community outreach events including screening and resource navigation, and professional development workshops, the program addresses critical gaps in accessible, culturally responsive care for crime victims in Nevada’s rural communities while contributing to the training of the next generation of trauma-informed healthcare providers.

School of Public Student Wellness Initiative

The School of Public Health is proud to announce a new student wellness initiative developed in partnership with CASAT and the UNR Community Behavioral Health Collaborative. This pilot program offers accessible mental health and wellbeing resources specifically tailored for our School of Public Health community, serving both undergraduate and graduate students. Recognizing that student success extends beyond the classroom, this initiative offers multiple pathways for students to access support when they need it most. The program is designed to reduce barriers and make wellness resources as accessible as possible through a drop-in wellness office, online referral system, , and faculty referrals and resources.
