Jennifer Calloway Ross, Ph.D.
Project Director
Dr. Ross earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2017, her M.A. in Counseling and Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2009, and an Advanced Certificate in Addiction Treatment and Prevention Services in 2011. She is a counselor educator and holds active licenses as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) and Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in Nevada. Dr. Ross is additionally certified as an Approved Supervisor through the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT, 2014-present) and provides primary and secondary supervision to MFT- and CPC-Interns in Nevada. She has served as a member of the Nevada Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors since 2021, and currently holds the seat as the Board’s President.
Dr. Ross has been in the Northern Nevada community since 2003. When she is not on campus, she is likely spending time with family, friends, and her 2 large dogs, ideally in the mountains or on one of our beautiful mountain lakes.
Alyson Mullen, Ph.D.
Clinical Director
Mullen is the Clinical Director for the Community Behavioral Health Collaborative (CBHC). She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019 and completed her PhD in Counseling at Oregon State University in 2024. Dr. Mullen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Supervisor in Nevada and also holds licensure in Oregon. Her professional background includes crisis intervention, perinatal mental health, co-occurring treatment, and community behavioral health program administration, including extensive experience within Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) systems. She continues to work in community behavioral health and is passionate about serving and supporting the Northern Nevada community.
Joshua Dickson, MFT, LCADC
Chief Clinical Supervisor
Joshua is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with experience in community behavioral health and private practice settings. Joshua serves as the Chief Clinical Supervisor for the Community Behavioral Health Collaborative, overseeing the provision of high-quality clinical supervision for behavioral health interns across multiple sites and projects. Originally from Northern California, he earned his Master’s in Counseling and Educational Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2017. Joshua provides therapy for individuals, couples, families, children, and clients experiencing substance use disorders. He also serves as a clinical supervisor for students and interns, supporting their growth and development as emerging professionals. Joshua is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and strengthening mental-health services in the community.
Vania Carter-Strauss, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Co-Investigator and Nursing Supervisor
Vania Carter-Strauss is the Co-Investigator and Nursing Supervisor for the CBHC’s Resilient Nevada Initiative. She is a proud University of Nevada, Reno alumni and current faculty at the Orvis School of Nursing (OSN). After graduating with her Bachelors in 2004 she worked as a registered nurse, with roots in the Trauma ICU at Renown Regional Medical Center. She continued her education and graduated with honors in the Master’s program in 2011 and was inducted in the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honors Society. Once she completed her MSN, she practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Her specialties include pulmonary and vascular medicine, wound care and geriatrics. Vania is passionate about sharing her love of nursing and clinical practice with future nurses. As a proud Latina faculty, Vania is passionate about the presence and success of Latinx nurses and students. She works diligently to support the efforts of the University, OSN and community to promote diversity within the landscape of nursing and integrated healthcare.
Lex Rodriguez, MSW
Program Coordinator
Lex Rodriguez received both her Masters and Bachelors in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2021 and 2022. In 2020, she became a certified Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate through the State of Nevada. She is currently the Senior Project Coordinator for The NevadaCARES Advocacy Center at the University of Nevada, Reno as well as the Program Coordinator for The Community Behavioral Health Collaborative.
Ms. Rodriguez enjoys spending time with her family and her dog Marvel. If she isn’t at home reading a new novel, she is out traveling with her partner and discovering new adventures.
