About

The Resilient Nevada Initiative, operated by the UNR Community Behavioral Health Collaborative in partnership with the Orvis School of Nursing, is a VOCA-funded program through the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services that provides accessible, evidence-based, trauma-informed integrated health services to victims and survivors of violent crimes across rural and underserved Nevada communities. The initiative delivers comprehensive mental health and nursing services to survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes in Humboldt, Elko, and Washoe counties, while simultaneously building community partnerships, developing public awareness resources, and training healthcare professionals in trauma-informed care. Through a combination of direct clinical services provided by supervised graduate students and licensed professionals, community outreach events including screening and resource navigation, and professional development workshops, the program addresses critical gaps in accessible, culturally responsive care for crime victims in Nevada’s rural communities while contributing to the training of the next generation of trauma-informed healthcare providers.
